Children’s Counseling

5-7

“Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood.” -Fred Rogers

Our Approach to Counseling Children

Using Play Therapy Techniques to counsel children. Because children have all sorts of different learning styles- auditory, kinesthetic, visual, verbal, and social or solitary- therapy must also be tailored to their interests, learning styles, and unique temperaments in order to be successful.

Therefore, our practice advocates a hands-on approach  involving play therapy techniques, expressive art, filial play therapy, and even using animals in the therapy room to assist with treatment.  We believe that the way children deal with and understand what is happening in their life is through play itself.
